Automise3 with Windows 2008 - Task Scheduler not working

Hi

I was using Automise2 on Windows 2003 box to run a backup task (which involves many actions) through Windows Task Scheduler. It was working perfectly.

Now I have a server box installed with Windows 2008 and Automise3. I moved all the Automise project files from old to new box. If I run the projects from Automise application it runs perfectly. But If I configured through Windows Task Scheduler the Automise projects are seems to be not working. The best part is Task scheduler ran successfully without any error as I do not see any errors in the log.

I suspect that any additional thing should be considered as it is running on Windows 2008?

Please note that if I run the command (which is under the task scheduler - actions) manually it runs perfectly. So it is definately something we need to look at the task scheduler settings fo Windows 2008.

I just tested this here, on Windows server 2008 and the scheduled tasks work fine. I did find something strange with the log history setting in AT3 though, when set to zero it should allow an unlimited number for runs in the log, however it only seems to be keeping the last run. It’s possible that is what you are seeing? Try changing the log history setting to keep 10 or so and see if that shows your scheduled tasks ok.

I made this change in my Windows 2008 test environment and now the task scheduler working fine. I did the same change in my production server but it failed. All I see the difference between these servers that the test server is running on 32 Bit and the production server is running 64 Bit.

I did verify each and every setting of Task scheduler and AT3 between two servers to be same and I could not figure out what is causing the issue in Production server.

When I tested on Server 2008, that was 64bit. Add an export log action to your project, that way you can see if it actually ran and did something.

I was using trial version of AT3. By the time i was testing this issue trial period has been expired. I just used my license key  to activate my AT3. After the activation I found nothing listed in AT3 scheduler . I just recreated the scheduled task and everything seems to be working fine. Thanks for your support. Do you have any idea what would be the real reson for this issue?

Sorry that I forgot to mention. I have installed the Windows hotfix as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951246/en-us just before activating the AT3 and restarted the server.
