Builds stalling at initialisation stage

We are using Continua 1.8.0.148 on a build server running Windows 8.1 Pro.

From time to time a build configuration that is configured with a repository trigger will start but will sit forever in the “Build Initialising…” state. See attachment Continua1.png.

The repository is a global Subversion repository. It’s set to the normal polling frequency. The configuration is very basic, nothing special.

When I check the repository in the CI Server repository configuration screen, it shows that the repository hasn’t been checked for 11 days. See attachment Continua2.png.

At this point I reset the repository. In the past this would normally fix the problem. But recently, instead of the repository resetting, it’s status just changes to “Not initialised” and the build is still stalled. See attachment Continua3.png.

What I do now is edit the repository, click the configuration button to confirm it’s validity, and then click the save button. Immediately the repository does a reset, and then the build proceeds as normal.

Hi Bruce,

Are there any related errors showing up on the Event Log page in the Administration area? As this is not an issue that we are able to reproduce, can you enable debug logging on the server? If you send the debug log to support@finalbuilder.com after reproducing the issue, this should help us to find the cause of the issue.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. There is nothing in the current logs that is relevant.

I’ll enable debug logging and wait for a reoccurence. As it make take some time for the issue to reoccur, I may have to disable debug logging if performance is too heavily impacted.

I’ll repost when I have something of use.

Thanks.
