Continua CI Server Service doesn't start correctly at system start

Our build server is a virtual machine which is getting shot down every night to create backups.

After it is booted again, i get the following error messages in the event log:

1) "Error while writing to UNC share: \\NEMESIS\BuildServer. Message:"
(yeah, there is no message given :-))

2) "Error loading module BuildsModule : The server's data share path cannot be found or it is not local to the server.
The current Continua.Builds.DataSharePath setting is '\\NEMESIS\BuildServer'.

An administrator can fix this by editing the value of Continua.Builds.DataSharePath in Continua.Server.Service.exe.config and restarting the Continua Server Service.
Please also check permissions on the share to ensure that it is accessible by the account that the Agent Services are running under."

after restarting the service manually without changing anything, everything is working as configured. This only occurs when restarting the system.

Maybe the service has missing dependencies or somewhat?

Will investigate. In the mean time you can try this :

1. Open the registry editor:
Start -> Run -> regedit

2. Navigate to the specific service you are trying to delay:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\

3. If there is a “DependOnService” value, simply modify it and add the service you want to start before the one you are editing in the registry.

If no “DependOnService” value exists create one:
Right click service name -> New -> Multi-string value
Enter the name DependOnService then modify this new record and add the service you want to start before the one you are editing.

I would suggest :

LanmanServer

I’ll look at adding this to the installer. Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you after the next reboot.

yep. works like charm.

Thanks for confirming, we’ll get this into the installer for the next build. We’re still working on some issues that need more testing so no new build today (had some people off sick today, the flu is going around the office).

no problem, we have 34° degress (celsius) this week and i have holidays, so no pressure for me

I wish… 5° here in Canberra and rain
