FinalBuilder license violation

Hi Support Team,

I hope this is the correct forum for this issue as it belongs to both FinalBuilder and ContinuaCI.

We want to indroduce a ContinuaCI build server. Yesterday I recognized during testing that the build under ContinuaCI several times stopped because of our 10 user license of FinalBuilder. A colleague started FinalBuilder on his machine just before a Delphi Compile has been started by the FinalBuilder Action of ContinuaCI.

How can we make a reliable build process with ContinuaCI using a FinalBuilder Action, which does not fail just because someone randomly uses FinalBuilder at the same time?

Our FinalBuilder license allows to install FinalBuilder IDE on 10 PCs with the restriction that only one single user at a given time uses it. But for build purposes this restriction is unwanted. It leads to the fact that we need another single license just for the build server.

Is there a way to check for a running FinalBuilder IDE or to wait until it closes?

Best regards
Michael

Hi Michael

Floating licenses are not intended for build servers, each agent machine should have it’s own Named user license. You should not be using the same license on users workstations and build servers. There is no wait to make Continua CI wait for a FinalBuilder license, it has no idea about FinalBuilder licensing.

Will FB 8 provide special licenses for this purpose?

No, the licensing for FB8 will be the same as FB7.
