Need to switch back to Live Log after viewing a log from history

While stepping through a script, I’d like to compare the current live log against a log from the Log History.  Unfortunately, once I’ve opened a log from the history, I can’t find a way to switch back to the Live Log.  Am I missing something or should I post an enhancement request?  Thanks

Currently opening multiple logs at once, and comparing logs are not supported.

Interestingly enough it can be done, but it creates an exception on logging after the history log is loaded. I have logged this support, and will look for a fix. On first look the fix would be to disallow changing to a historical log. This isn’t completely desirable, but other options require allowing multiple logs being opened at once which would require some restructuring of how logging works internally. A fair amount of work.

Please feel free to email in a request to support for the feature of comparing logs. It is something we can review and see where it fits into the FinalBuilder 8 plans.

Hi Jon,

I compare FinalBuilder logs fairly frequently. I use the Export action to export the log to a text file. Then I use Beyond Compare (www.scootersoftware.com) to compare the 2 text files.

Hi Dave,

That is a great idea. Should have thought of it myself. It is something which we are aiming to bring to the IDE though. Saving the requirement of an external tool.
