Hello,

I am looking for a solution regarding deployment for a suite of .Net applications.  The deployment would primarily be updates to applications and a sql server database.  Originally we were looking for a scripting solution that would allow us maximum flexibility (e.g. Powershell).  However, we are very happy FinalBuilder customers and Automize caught my eye.

We need to backup/restore databases, stop/start windows services, stop/start IIS, modify configuration files, modify registry entries, update .Net assemblies, call functions from our own .Net assemblies and/or .Net framework assemblies, report success/failure via the command-line with a log file for more details.

Most importantly we need the ability to run all this via command-line; as a silent/unattended type of install.  We will be distributing this update package to a third-party and they will be responsible for updating the various installed sites. 

We would not be interested in buying licenses for all of our installed sites.  Can Automise run unattended, from the command-line WITHOUT an Automise installation?  I see Automise Runner can be freely distributed, is there something similar that can be run from the command-line with no UI?

My apologies for the delay in replying, we somehow missed your post.

The short answer is that Automise needs to be installed to run an automise script. There is an Automise Runtime license, which only installs the command line version of Automise, however that is still something that needs to be installed. The runtime license is quite reasonably priced, it is intended for enterprise wide deployment. We have a customer in the process of rolling out the Automise Runtime to 250,000 pc’s to achieve exactly what you are describing.
