Hi Support Team,
I just tested the ‘Manual Promotion’ of a stage: My last stage (notify users about the availability of a new build) is manual promoted.
This window is not read only; thus I can change several settings which have had influence to the build process. For example, I can spedify to build ‘mode a’ on start of a build and change it to ‘mode b’ before promotion. This makes no sense.
The Promote Options window should be read only in general or it should be possible to specify whether or not a ‘prompt variable’ should be read only on promotion.
Do you agree with me?
Best regards
Michael
Hi Michael,
The main reason for presenting the variables on this dialog is to allow users to influence the stage requiring promotion. You may, for example, use a variable to allow users promoting a deployment stage to choose whether to release a build to production or to a testing environment - perhaps after viewing the unit test results.
I can however see how you might want to lock this down. I’ll add a task to our feature list to provide a “read-only on promotion” option for variables.
Hi Dave,
that would exact fit my needs, because I have one or two of five variables / inputs which would make sense to be changed / enhanced on promotion.
Best regards
Michael
