Hi,
In FinalBuilder (7.0.0.2910) when I upload a 2 GB .bak file using the SFTP Upload Files action, it takes over 1 hour to upload it and the recipient says that it is not in binary mode. On that action I cannot see how to force it to be in Binary mode. I can only choose ASCII mode. When I upload the file with WinSCP it takes only 20 mins to upload the same file and it uploads it in Binary mode.
Hi LencoTB,
With the settings you list above the SFTP Upload Files action should be using Binary Mode. With Ascii Mode turned off Binary Mode should be used by default. There must be something else at play here. Would you be able to send support (which I will get) the details of the SFTP server your connecting to. We don’t require any in-confidence details (password, user name, IP address) but the SFTP Protocol Version and Server Software lines from the log will be a great start. Also any of the other details set on the connection will help.
Thanks.
Hi Jason,
Thx for the quick answer. I have confirmed that the file that I transfer to has been uploaded in Binary mode. So the file uploads fine with the Binary Mode. The only thing is that it still takes over 1 hour to upload the 2.5 GB .bak file while it only takes 20 mins when transferring it in WinSCP. I do not have access nor can I get the log files from my target SFTP server. They are confidential.
Hi Lenco,
Apologies I haven’t gotten back to you sooner. We have tried a similar setup to what you have described. We are seeing the same thing. When looking into the code it appears the slow down is coming from the internals of our third party library. We are currently talking to them to see what can be done. I will let you know when we have a fix for this or at the very least a work around.
Hey Jason,
Thx for the answer. Really nice service from you guys. I will follow this thread and see what you come up with.
Hi Lenco,
Just a quick update to let you know we still in talks with the library developer. At this stage I am sorry to say we don’t have an ETA on when a build will be available. I will let you know as soon as this becomes clearer.
Hi Jason,
Thx for the update. My implementation is running in the production environment during the night and so far the upload has worked so far even though it almost takes two hours. Looking forward to your update.
Hi Jason,
I am back from my vacation and has seen that there has come 2 new versions of FB since last time. I read the Release Notes on both of them but I could not figure out if these 2 updates have fixed the long FTP Upload time.
Hi Lenco,
The latest release contains the fixes I made for you. Let me know how they go for you.
The long upload time I found was due to directory navigation from what I could reproduce. Please let me know if the issue persists with the latest releases.
Hi Jason,
After upgrading to the newest version of FB, I can see that my upload transfer is slightly faster. It now takes 1 hour and 20 mins. So an improvement of 15 mins with this newest version of FB.
Hi Lenco,
This still isn’t ideal. Would you be able to send the log of the successful upload to support. Most important is the connection action log and the upload log. Thanks.
I am sorry, I’ve been told that this is confidential and no logs should be sent
Hi Lenco,
Please feel free to with hold anything you deem to be confidential. Knowing the server type your connecting to, and connection settings will help greatly in narrowing down this issue.
