SVN Update

Hi,
At the Subversion Update Settings, (File and Folder Options) i use the path, where i normally do the update. What is the difference of Work Folder and Path?
The (repository) projects are saved on a network server.  Where do I enter the server name and the checkout directory? Are the settings  (tool/options) of repository default and the utility options important?
