In the most recent version of FB IDE ‘Check For Udates’ fails with the following message:
[Window Title]
Error
[Content]
Error occurred when checking for updates:
Could not access updates file on web site:
Zugriff verweigert
[OK]
Is it an indication that FB 8 is ready and FB 7 will no longer provide updates ?
LOL! It’s a side effect of switching the website to https only, we’re working on a fix for FB7. FB8 is still being developed, coming together nicely but we still have a bit to before it’s ready.
Hi Michael,
A fix for this is coming out today.

Hi Michael,
A fix for this is coming out today.
So to get the fix, do we just need to manually download and install v7.0.0.3062?
Hi All,
Yes the latest version of FinalBuilder has a correction to all FinalBuilder website addresses. You can find the latest installer located here:

Got it. Thanks.
Updated today from 2995 to 3062. On Windows XP everything is fine again, on Windows 8.1 x64 I still see the “Access denied” error.
Martin
Hi Martin,
Updating to 3062 on a Windows 8.1 x64 machine here I am able to access the https updates. I get a response of not updates being present. Does the machine have any firewall settings which would stop it accessing the outside world?
Running a manual update check works. I see the error in the News section under Shortcuts:
“Could not access updates file on web site: Access is denied”
Hi Martin,
The error your seeing is for the news section of the website. These values comes from the local configuration of the user. We took the view to not override what users had set.
Under FinalBuilder IDE options head to the “FinalBuilder | Welcome Page” section. You will see a Newsfeed setting. Select the Newsfeed you desire and on restarting FinalBuilder the error will disappear.
We are working towards making the linkage between the website and FinalBuilder smoother. So at this time most of the newsfeeds are temporarily unavailable, so all of the selections will return blank results. This change however will remove the error your seeing.
Let me know how this goes for you, and if you have any thoughts on what you would like to see on the welcome page please let us know.
